About Us
Adrian Overbury has always had a passion for boats, from days sailing dinghies in Hong Kong Harbour to working on deep-sea trawlers out of Lowestoft, operating vessels in both the Antarctic and Arctic and mate on a charter vessel in the Mediterranean and Caribbean.
In his earlier years, during apprenticeship at Whisstocks of Woodbridge, he acquired a broad range of skills within the marine industry including boatbuilding and boatyard management.
Adrian has a lifetime's experience in the industry having studied small craft surveying at Warsash (Southampton University) and more recently specific courses required by the YDSA (Yacht Designer Surveyors Association) of which he is now an Affiliate member.
In 1985, Adrian in partnership with Mike Illingworth, purchased
Robertsons Boatyard, renowned for their skill in wood boatbuilding and repair which continues today.
In recent years, Adrian established Brown & Overbury Yacht Surveyors & Consultants to capitalize on the wealth of knowledge gained over the years following a close association with Peter Brown, a well known Marine Surveyor and Naval Architect.
Today, Brown & Overbury are responsible for a broad range of vessel surveys with clients ranging from private individuals to elite boatbuilders and national banks.
